Achievements

On September 2004, Food for Life Society Trustee, Col. Rawat (retired) and Rupa Raghunath das, FFLV International Coordinator, presented the Honourable Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh with literature and gifts at his residence in New Delhi.

The PM commended Food for Life representatives for their consistent work to fight poverty and illiteracy.

FFLV-Social Development Department received the “2004 World Human Right Promotional Award” on the occasion of 6th World Human Right Congress held on 10th December 2004 at New Delhi India.

Dr Rupa Raghunath won the Life Time Achievement award for the year 2006, awarded by the Indian Institute of Human Rights.

Food for life Vrindavan also won the 8th World Human Rights’ award for the year 2006.

FFLV achievements April 2008 – March 2009

Education

  • 2 schools with 960 children enrolled, 300 children attending evening classes.

Food distribution

  • Midday meals to Sandipani Muni Schools, kitchri, meals for elderly and widows, meals for the sightless.

595,450 Total meals distributed.

Medical services

  • 50,000 villagers received free medical treatment.

Social development

  • 105 micro credit groups formed.
  • 2,000 villagers participate in legal awareness camp, women’s rights, adult education, health programs, vocational training and seminars on quality of life.

Water projects

  • 3 water wells bored and 6 hand pumps installed; 15,000 people benefited.

Clothing

  • 4,500 New Year gifts, 3,200 uniforms to SMS students.
  • 1,200 blankets distributed to poor children

Environment

  • 365 days 15 men employed for cleaning Vrindavan and the parikrama marg.

  • 255,500 plates of kitchri (rice, lentils & vegetables) served.
  • 296,400 Sandipani Muni School lunches served.
  • 35,250 meals served to the elderly and widows.
  • 1,300 Sunday meals served to blind people.

  • 10 New micro credit groups formed, bringing total to 90.
  • 20 Villages participate in legal awareness camp; women’s rights; adult education; health programs, and vocational training.

  • 365 days 27 men employed for cleaning of Vrindavan and the parikrama marg.

  • 38,500 meals served to elderly and widows.
  • 1,300 Sunday meals (feasts) to blind people.

568,500 Total meals distributed.

Medical services

  • 50,000 villagers received free medical treatment.
  • 1080 children received Polio Drops.

Social development

  • 20 New self-help groups formed, making a total of 80.
  • 24 Villages participate in Social Development projects; legal awareness camps; women’s right and adult education.
  • 200 village women participated in three tailoring courses.

Water projects

  • 1 village, Bari Atas, had wells bored and water tanks constructed.

Clothing

  • 3,600 New Year gifts, 2,800 school uniforms, and thousands of second hand clothing distributed.

Environment

  • 365 days of parikrama marg and Vrindavan cleaning, thirty four men, full time.
  • 45 days, thirty three workers for clean Vrindavan sanitation drives.
  • 400 trees planted with (85% survival rates).

  • 32,500 Full meals for elderly persons and widows

Medical services

  • 10,000 Villagers received free medicine and assistance since October 1999.

Water projects

  • 3 villages have been provided with drinking water by constructing wells and overhead tanks.

Clothing

  • 800 New sweater and woolly hat distributed in the winter to poor children.
  • 500 New T-shirts distributed to children.
  • 3,500 pieces of second hand clothes distributed to the needy

  • 2500 square yards School play-grounds have been fenced, trees have been planted and educational materials about environmental concern have been distributed to school children.
