A Gift of Skill is something that the recipient will carry with them and can continue to use forever. Walking on these lines and continuing the social development program, 3 months ago Food for Life Vrindavan started a three-month embroidery program with the assistance of Nabard Skill Development (Run by the Government). This training was finally concluded yesterday, 3rd September 2012, when a group of trained girls received their certificates after successfully clearing their training sessions.
In this training about 26 women and girls from Vrindavan and the surrounding areas were trained in making deity dresses and other styles of embroidery. The purpose of this program was to make these women empowered in a skill that would remain with them forever. This training gave them confidence and a permanent means of earning their livelihood and supports their families.
The Secretary of the organization Vrinda Shuda Arora said, “ It is an effort made by Food for Life to make women independent and empowered. After this training, these women will be given support to start their own business.”
