Yesterday was a great and exhilarating journey. Since early in the morning an organized distribution was arranged to hand out mosquito nets and shoes to the SMS students. Happily returning to their classrooms, the children would open their mosquito nets to check them out, then they would fold them nicely and place them in their backpacks.
Suda is a 4th grade student. She is seven years old and told us she lives with her parents, four sisters and one brother. She’s been at SMS since nursery. In a grateful mood she told us how happy she was with her new gifts and added she would share it with her sisters.
Once all the shoes were distributed, we spoke to Mohit a 5th grade student, he is so excited about his new shoes, he started racing with his friends to see who could run faster.
| Monsoon season is on its way. Therefore to protect the children from malaria, cholera and other sickness, the mosquito nets are given to protect the children against mosquito bites. Shoes are also an important item, due to floodings during the rainy season there is a lot of fungus on the street. A total of 1,500 shoes and 1,500 mosquito nets were distributed. Seeing the kids’ extremely happy and grateful faces is priceless. Thanks to all the donors and friends that make this happen!! |
Today is another big day at the school, 1.500 uniforms and 1.500 t-shirts are being handed out as you read this.
